Every time you open Facebook, you see someone or the other is engaged.

More weddings means more ethnic clothes and hoarding ethnic clothes isn’t something I enjoy.

Instead, I team existing ethnic wear with some western wear staples to create a very individualistic style.

1. The crop jacket and bustier:

I have teamed a velvet skirt with borders with an ikat bustier and a neoprene embellished crop jacket from my western wear wardrobe.

Massive silver earrings, a gold watch and an embroidered black and white clutch finished the look for me.

This is a look which can easily be pulled off at a friend/cousin’s sangeet or reception.

2. The Sequinned Crop Top Magic:

I feel the colour yellow can instantly lift both your mood and your look. I have teamed a bright yellow sequinned crop top with a silk Ikat sharara and an embroidered dupatta with heavy borders.

A Rani Haar set from my Mum’s closet, an art canvas clutch and a rose gold watch completed the look for me.

A look perfect for a shaadi, sangeet or reception.

3. When in doubt, belt it up:

I have teamed a floor-length kalidaar with a dupatta from another kalidaar set, and added all the edge with a golden metal belt on the waist.

Chandbaalis, black peep toes and a basic black clutch was all. Oh, not to forget, a red bindi for all the desi touch too!

A perfect look for a sangeet or shaadi.

4. That Friday Night Top and The Benarasi Skirt

Teamed one of my favourite most asymmetrical sequinned black top(worn the other way around) with a Benarasi Silk Skirt made out of a saree.

Lotus motif earrings, a peacock feather print clutch and a white watch completed the look for me.

Perfect look for a sangeet or reception.

5. That Antique Touch to the Twin Set:

I am sure all of us own at least a pair or two of twin sets. Give it an ethnic facelift by adding an antique silver waistband and earrings. A potli and some wooden and metal bangles wouldn’t harm either.

This is a perfect look for a small mehndi/haldi function.

6. Culturing the Culottes:

Teamed an embroidered kurta here with a pair of bright pink culottes and a triangular scarf for a little more edge. Traditional umbrella jhumkas and embroidered loafers finished the look for me.

Another look that is perfect for a Mehndi/Haldi function.

7. The Classic Black Shirt:

If you thought that a classic black shirt was only meant for your formal wear wardrobe, you are so wrong. Team a black shirt with a vibrant printed skirt like this and you are good to go to any engagement, Sangeet, Mehndi or even a Shaadi/Reception function.

Oxidized jhumkas and a classic watch have completed the look for me.
