Getting Festive Season Ready with Kalighata

The wedding season is barely a fortnight away and I am sure a few of you are still losing your hair by pondering over what to wear.

Whether you are on the ‘getting-married’ side or ‘attending-the-marriage’ side, this blog post caters to both. I have chosen three of my favourite outfits from Kalighata‘s bridal range. Let’s take a look.

Despite having extremely broad shoulders, I can never quite get enough of off-shoulders. And when it’s a mash up of off-shoulders with desi outfits, I say a big YES. Well done Kalighata!

Things to love about this outfit are of course the off-shoulders, sweetheart neckline which helps correct the broad shoulders, the pastel tone, very subtle embroidery and the way it lends your body such a feminine shape.

This is an outfit which is perfect for a bride for her Sangeet night, may be with a heavier dupatta, or perfect as it is, for her sister and best friend.

The glass pipe detailing on the cuff adds that touch of edge to this number.

Even though this outfit has embroidery along the entire length, it is still tasteful and classy and thankfully not blingy. ( BIG NO)

Before moving on to the next look, let’s show you one picture with the #DulhanDiaries squad.

With off-shoulders coming into the scene, can cold-shoulders stay far behind? Absolutely not!

Next up, we have the stunning cold shoulder lehenga. I actually curated this look by teaming a different blouse with a different skirt and dupatta; all being parts of different sets.

Things to love: How that little bit of sleeve on the blouse makes my otherwise Sunny Deol arms look leaner, the subtlety of the look and most definitely the fit.

Another great outfit which can be pulled off by the bride herself for any of her functions or even her closest kins.

Time to show you the last and hands-down my most favourite look from the series.

I would like it call it my Cinderella gown with a magical cape look.

Once again, the gown and cape are separates but as you all know, I can’t do without layering.

The cape with extensive embroidery and glass bead detailing is the show-stealer. Oh, and did I tell you that my Cinderella dress fitted me like a dream, making me feel at least two inches shrunk because of the cut. It’s actually such a feel good factor to even don this dress!

A look a bride can pull off for her cocktails night to make sure she is the only cynosure of attention, or even for the reception if she is done with lehengas and sarees.

Friends and family too can pull off this look for a musical night or reception.

See how well it photographs even when you are sitting.

If you are an enthusiast of understated elegance, Kalighata is most definitely your place and of course there are brighter colours too. But so happy to see a label take a nice break from an epidemic of bling.

The entire range was showcased at Kalighata‘s event #DulhanDiaries but ladies worry not, you can still have access to them at their store in Salt Lake at the following address:
